Unlike many of the great voices of the past, Kathleen Ferrier's will not remain a mere memory to fade when those who heard it are dead. It can be heard again on numerous records. Nowhere, except perhaps in Mahlers Das lied von der Erde, can it be heard to better advantage tan in Brahms Rhapsody. It rides serenely over the formidable phrases wit their wide intervals which make the work appallingly difficult to sing perfectly.
