Von einigen Alben wurden mehrere Versionen (Pressungen) veröffentlicht. Es gibt die erste Pressung, die für Sammler sehr wertvoll sein kann. Wenn diese ausverkauft ist, wird eine neue Pressung hergestellt, die Repress oder Neuauflage genannt wird. Diese können sich leicht unterscheiden, z. B. durch eine andere Hülle oder schwereres Vinyl.
Manchmal werden ältere Alben neu gemastert, um die Klangqualität zu verbessern. Auch dafür wird eine neue Pressung hergestellt. Unterschiede im Artwork oder kleine Produktionsfehler können eine bestimmte Version attraktiver machen.
Was macht den Preisunterschied aus?
Bei Platten, die nicht neu sind, wird der Marktwert durch Seltenheit und den Zustand sowohl der Platte als auch der Hülle bestimmt. Die Preisgestaltung basiert auf Angebot und Nachfrage und ob eine Version limitiert oder nummeriert ist.
Welche Variante soll ich wählen?
Wenn es hauptsächlich um die Musik geht, ist eine Repress eine gute Wahl. Eine Original- oder nummerierte Ausgabe hat eine andere Art von Anziehungskraft.

R/S Alsdorf 925577-1- & the corresponding letter (side indicator) and occasionally a single digit number (e.g. R/S Alsdorf 925577-1-D3) plus the [Allied 'ɑ' logo are machine stamped. All other codes or digits are hand-etched.
Alsdorf used US mothers, galvanized by Sheffield Lab Matrix for Allied Record Company which can be identified by the appearance of "△ 00000-X" and the [Allied 'ɑ' logo-stamp.
Sheffield Lab Matrix plated the master discs (fathers), Allied Record Company plated the mother discs, Record Service Alsdorf plated the stampers & pressed them as well.
Remark:
The 'Lyrics Co-written By' credit for "Slow Love" (track B3) is release wide credited to "Carol Davis" [on other - very similar - editions you may find on labels "Carole Raphaell Davis" and on the black dust sleeve "Carol Davis" - the credit may appear on different editions in a different way and is often not accurately reflected in other release pages...
