Von einigen Alben wurden mehrere Versionen (Pressungen) veröffentlicht. Es gibt die erste Pressung, die für Sammler sehr wertvoll sein kann. Wenn diese ausverkauft ist, wird eine neue Pressung hergestellt, die Repress oder Neuauflage genannt wird. Diese können sich leicht unterscheiden, z. B. durch eine andere Hülle oder schwereres Vinyl.
Manchmal werden ältere Alben neu gemastert, um die Klangqualität zu verbessern. Auch dafür wird eine neue Pressung hergestellt. Unterschiede im Artwork oder kleine Produktionsfehler können eine bestimmte Version attraktiver machen.
Was macht den Preisunterschied aus?
Bei Platten, die nicht neu sind, wird der Marktwert durch Seltenheit und den Zustand sowohl der Platte als auch der Hülle bestimmt. Die Preisgestaltung basiert auf Angebot und Nachfrage und ob eine Version limitiert oder nummeriert ist.
Welche Variante soll ich wählen?
Wenn es hauptsächlich um die Musik geht, ist eine Repress eine gute Wahl. Eine Original- oder nummerierte Ausgabe hat eine andere Art von Anziehungskraft.

Post 1994 version of [r=6040857, as its never been out of production (as far as I am aware) this is best described as a Repress not reissue.
"Made in Germany" printed on CD face and on hub.
Catalogue number 848 578-2 given on inside page of booklet, CD face, back cover and spines.
Includes an 8 panel/page booklet of cover art, lyrics, photographs and credits.
The Mastering SID is very small just above left the matrix text and the Mould SID immediately follows "... M&L" on the hub text and is very hard to see.
Similar to [r6040857 but this release has full set of images and complete BAOI / credits / and LCCN data and is post 1994 dues to the presence of SID codes, post 1999 and pre 2005 due to the Universal M & L connection.
