Von einigen Alben wurden mehrere Versionen (Pressungen) veröffentlicht. Es gibt die erste Pressung, die für Sammler sehr wertvoll sein kann. Wenn diese ausverkauft ist, wird eine neue Pressung hergestellt, die Repress oder Neuauflage genannt wird. Diese können sich leicht unterscheiden, z. B. durch eine andere Hülle oder schwereres Vinyl.
Manchmal werden ältere Alben neu gemastert, um die Klangqualität zu verbessern. Auch dafür wird eine neue Pressung hergestellt. Unterschiede im Artwork oder kleine Produktionsfehler können eine bestimmte Version attraktiver machen.
Was macht den Preisunterschied aus?
Bei Platten, die nicht neu sind, wird der Marktwert durch Seltenheit und den Zustand sowohl der Platte als auch der Hülle bestimmt. Die Preisgestaltung basiert auf Angebot und Nachfrage und ob eine Version limitiert oder nummeriert ist.
Welche Variante soll ich wählen?
Wenn es hauptsächlich um die Musik geht, ist eine Repress eine gute Wahl. Eine Original- oder nummerierte Ausgabe hat eine andere Art von Anziehungskraft.

Although this release is similar to the other U.S. release seen here: [r7998586, there are stark contrasts.
-fonts used look the same, however, one release has them larger. For instance, cat.#, label matrix #, side(s) indicators.
-fonts also look more "bold" on this release compared to the other U.S. copy.
-this release has the record title under the band name on labels, the other, title is above the band name.
-a completely different font is used between them when it comes to the production credits at the bottom of the labels. Now,
-I'm not a printer or typesetter, but they certainly look different to me. The one thing that is obvious, is at the bottom of the label.
-this release shows " ℗1981 MCA" on one line.. and the other release shows " ℗1981" on one line.
-this release has a label matrix # spaced between "MCA" & "2817". Also, no parentheses.The other, no space w/parentheses.
The one thing that they do have in common, besides the barcode, is "Wisefield" is spelled incorrectly as "Weisfield" on
-the rear cover sleeve, in the liner notes.
This release has a single pressing ring @ 25mm. It also has this " 回-G-回 " stamped in both runouts. A Gloversville pressing.
