American bandleader and composer Duke Ellington made jazz history with his orchestra. With classics like "Take the 'A' Train" and "Mood Indigo", Duke Ellington and His Orchestra became one of the most influential big bands. A fun fact is that Ellington preferred to call his music American Music rather than jazz, believing the word jazz was too limiting.
