Foreword:
In 2019 my sister and I returned to the place that inspired Club Meduse and drove around to see what had become of the hotspots of our youth. We ended up in the middle of an open air karaoke adventure in one of these clubs that still had faded photographs of early days disco nights on the wall and the old “Pizza Néné” bus parked next to the entry. Still the best pizza in the world and god knows I love Italy. Even though it's 2019 the crowd couldn’t have looked more '85 with high waisted shorts, pyramid haircuts and thin golden necklaces worn over striped tee shirts. It was “Pauline A La Plage” all over again and we even witnessed France Gall’s "Ella, elle l'a" being performed by a group of three teen girls on stage. We couldn’t believe our luck. Sure the music and fashion feels like second or third time around, but it brought back the original feeling of being entirely free and driven by dreams rather than the mind. For Club Meduse 2 I’ve listened to the selection sitting on the very same rock I used to sit on 30 years ago and realised it’s the perfect mix of things that were maybe playing or should have been played back then. Like some memories outgrow reality - leaving us with the question : "Isn't it always like this?"
