This album was recorded in its entirety at the Newport Jazz Festival on July 7, 1963. The Newport Jazz Festival is produced by George Wein.

The glee club you hear in some of these numbers is Dave Pike, who, in the great tradition of Arturo Toscanini and Erroll Garner, "sings" while playing vibes. It is not George Wein.
