A slipmat is a must-have for any turntable. True hi-fi enthusiasts prefer a cork mat, as it provides excellent vibration damping. Technically, a cork mat isn’t really a slipmat, because it doesn’t slip—which is exactly the point at home. DJs, on the other hand, use felt slipmats, which allow the record to slip while the platter keeps spinning—perfect for cueing and scratching, but not ideal for home listening.
