Some albums were released in multiple versions (pressings). There is the first pressing, which can be very valuable to collectors. When that stock runs out, a new pressing is made, called a repress or re-issue. These are often slightly different, such as a different sleeve or heavier vinyl.
Sometimes older albums are remastered, improving the sound quality. A new pressing is made for this as well. Differences in artwork or small production errors can also make a specific version more attractive.
What makes the difference in price?
For records that are not new, the market value is determined by scarcity and the condition of both the record and the sleeve. Pricing is based on supply and demand, and whether a version is limited or numbered.
Which variant should I choose?
If it’s mainly about the music, a repress is a good choice. An original or numbered edition has a different kind of appeal.

General notes about this release (please note: our version may differ a little. see the comments above):
This European pressing of the album was released with advertising stickers in several variations, but all round and white.
All versions included an inner sleeve with lyrics and credits.
The label used was not the standard yellow-orange Sire label but a custom-made one for this album.
Some copies issued in France came with an obi featuring a list, in French, of all the countries where the album charted at number 1.
Later pressings (1987) were released with a free giant souvenir poster from the "Who's That Girl World Tour". The presence of this poster is advertised with a round purple sticker. The edition including the poster is listed separately: [r=2227018.
Lacquer cut at Future Disc which can be identified inside the runout groove.
Record Service Alsdorf used US sons (stampers) - manufactured by Allied Record Company (ARC) - to press them in Germany. 'Metalwork' / 'plating' (fathers and mothers) were made at Sheffield Lab Matrix as subcontractor for the ARC – identified by 'delta' numbers ("△ #####" and "△ #####-X") along with a "-SH#" and the [Allied 'ɑ' logo-stamp along with the manufacturer matrix numbers B-#####.
