Maurits Pauwels And The Benelux Calypsos bring music from the Caribbean in a Dutch translation. A repertoire about lust, injustice, crime, calamity, morality and romance. For everyone with hips, heart and a brain.
Maurits Pauwels is the alter ego of Mauro Pawlowski (ex-Evil Superstars, ex-dEUS,….). With this project (in addition to his 101 others) he brings calypso classics. Pleasantly disturbed texts, crazy stories, quibbles and stories.
He is assisted by the musicians of De Benelux Calypsos, who play a brass band-calypso sound.
