General notes about this release (please note: our version may differ a little. see the comments above):
The likable hellion Phoebe Jean is a one girl band with an army of sound. Born and raised in Baltimore, loved and learned in Paris and New York, Phoebe knows how to bring it all home with a masterful blend of classic club breaks, soulful funk grooves, and epic harmonic melodies that come together like a guided missile, always on target.
The first single "Day Is Gone" from the upcoming Phoebe Jean and The Air Force album "Heartbreakers" (and featured on the "Facts of Nature" EP out now) is an unexpectedly grimy track, raised on West Baltimore's hyper-hyper beat patterns and thick, rutty synth bass. The song ups the pressure more and more until Phoebe lets it blow off in a massive vocal hook. The video for the track was directed by Phoebe Jean herself and features cinematography by Sienna Sheilds. Choreography is by Love, Grace O' Neill and features the Shake Off Twinz who have also been seen with M.I.A. and Rye Rye.
As a live act, Phoebe caught the attention of the New York Times which noticed that "...the group brought the low-ceilinged room to a sweat" when they played the Lower East Side venue Cake Shop last year. It's true that Phoebe's show always goes straight to the heart of the dance floor.
Back above ground, it's 102 degrees in Baltimore City and Phoebe Jean & The Air Force is in town anticipating the release of the new album "Heartbreakers" on Lentonia Records on June 12th, 2012. In the mean time, Phoebe will be at home tending to her '77 Cadillac Seville.
Press Quotes:
"Looking like a mischievous, overgrown elf in a floppy hat and XXXL T-shirt that cloaked her like a dress, Phoebe performed her signature mix of classic club breaks, funk and electronic, while her drummer, dressed in skintight animal-print pants, maniacally contorted his face. Collectively, the group brought the low-ceilinged room to a sweat." - New York Times
