What determines the price?

Why is one record cheaper than another?

Some albums were released in multiple versions (pressings). There is the first pressing, which can be very valuable to collectors. When that stock runs out, a new pressing is made, called a repress or re-issue. These are often slightly different, such as a different sleeve or heavier vinyl.

Sometimes older albums are remastered, improving the sound quality. A new pressing is made for this as well. Differences in artwork or small production errors can also make a specific version more attractive.

What makes the difference in price?

For records that are not new, the market value is determined by scarcity and the condition of both the record and the sleeve. Pricing is based on supply and demand, and whether a version is limited or numbered.

Which variant should I choose?

If it’s mainly about the music, a repress is a good choice. An original or numbered edition has a different kind of appeal.

General notes about this release (please note: our version may differ a little. see the comments above):

Second version:
• Issued in an oversized, hand-glued sleeve with "Varulven Records Proudly Presents THE COUNT" on the front with a live band photo.
• The label color is a lighter dull red/maroon than the first pressing: these disks have a different pressing-ring configuration, as well: a beveled outer pressing ring at 2.25" and a 1.5" raised center.
• The four-page liner-notes and lyrics insert is re-formatted to fit a folded 8.5"x14" sheet. The text is typeset and lacks the performer credits and the Varulven Magazine mention from the stapled 8.5"x11" first version
• Three postcard inserts with a Jeanna Archibald photo credit on the back along with an updated address: Box 83 Tufts University Branch, Medford, Mass. 02153. (Joe Viglione's original Arlington MA address still appears on the labels.)

Label A : 'The Count/Joseph Allan Viglione'
Label B : 'The Count/Joseph Allen Viglione'
