Waarom is de ene plaat zoveel goedkoper dan een andere?
Van sommige albums uit het verleden zijn meerdere versies (persingen) gemaakt. Zo is er de eerste persing, die voor echte liefhebbers van grote waarde is. Als die voorraad op is, wordt er opnieuw geperst: een repress of re-issue. Deze verschilt vaak iets van het origineel, bijvoorbeeld door een andere hoes of zwaarder vinyl.
Soms wordt een ouder album opnieuw gemasterd, waardoor het geluid beter wordt. Ook dan wordt er een nieuwe persing gemaakt. Verschillen in artwork of kleine foutjes tijdens een persing kunnen een versie extra aantrekkelijk maken.
Wat maakt het verschil in prijs?
Bij platen die niet nieuw zijn, wordt de marktwaarde bepaald door schaarste en de conditie van de plaat en de hoes. We prijzen op basis van vraag en aanbod en nemen mee of een versie gelimiteerd of genummerd is.
Welke variant kies ik?
Als het om de muziek gaat, kies je voor een repress. Een origineel of genummerde variant heeft een andere soort aantrekkingskracht.

Discographical Details: The eight solo piano selections were all recorded on December 7, 1928 in Long Island City, New York, and were originally issued on the QRS label. Monday Date (master number 289-A) /Chicago High Life (mx. no. 290) were QRS R-7037; Panther Rag (293) /Just Too Soon (294-A) were QRS R-7039; Blues in Thirds (287) /Off Time Blues (288-A) were R-7036. The other selections wer recorded in Richmond, Indiana, and originally issued on Gennett. Southland (11669B) /Motherless Child (11670A) were Genett 20021; Isabel (11668A) /For the Last Time (11671A) were Gen 20022; all were made on November 6, 1923. Congaine (11630A) on Gen 20012, was recorded on October 3, 1923.
Re-recorded to tape by Jerry Valburn from original material provided by Valburn and Robert Altschuler.
In reprocessing this material in 1969, every effort has been made to compensate for severe limitations of early recording and manufacture by optimum use of modern noise supression and filtering equipment. At the same time, original tone qualities have been retained to the greatest extent possible and no artificial enhancement or rechanneling has been introduced.
