M (Mint) – Onbespeeld, nog verzegeld in originele verpakking.
NM (Near Mint) – Enkele keren gedraaid, geen fouten; hoes vrijwel als nieuw.
VG+ (Very Good Plus) – Lichte gebruikssporen, speelt uitstekend; hoes met minimale slijtage.
VG (Very Good) – Duidelijk gebruikt, hoorbare ruis of tikjes; hoes met slijtage.
G (Good) – Veel afgespeeld, storende ruis mogelijk; hoes met duidelijke beschadiging.
Generic – Originele hoes is verloren, dus de plaat komt in een generieke binnenhoes.
Wat is ultrasone reiniging?
Vanaf nu passen we bij iedere plaat boven de €50,- een nieuwe service toe: we reinigen de plaat ultrasoon. Kort gezegd houdt het in dat een plaat gereinigd wordt door zeer hoogfrequente geluidsgolven in een speciaal platenbadje. Hierna komt de plaat er droog en ontdaan van alle stof weer stralend uit.
Uiteraard kan een kras of een scuff nooit ontdaan worden, maar ultrasoon brengt een vuile plaat weer tot leven en tot zijn maximale potentie: eenmaal uit bad, is de LP weer spic en span en dat verschil zul je horen! Voorheen onder stof of door vette vingers bedolven informatie komt weer goed tot z'n recht en zo klinkt alles weer een stuk meer helder.
Nog gesealde platen blijven uiteraard gewoon gesealed!
Waarom is de ene plaat zoveel goedkoper dan een andere?
Van sommige albums uit het verleden zijn meerdere versies (persingen) gemaakt. Zo is er de eerste persing, die voor echte liefhebbers van grote waarde is. Als die voorraad op is, wordt er opnieuw geperst: een repress of re-issue. Deze verschilt vaak iets van het origineel, bijvoorbeeld door een andere hoes of zwaarder vinyl.
Soms wordt een ouder album opnieuw gemasterd, waardoor het geluid beter wordt. Ook dan wordt er een nieuwe persing gemaakt. Verschillen in artwork of kleine foutjes tijdens een persing kunnen een versie extra aantrekkelijk maken.
Wat maakt het verschil in prijs?
Bij platen die niet nieuw zijn, wordt de marktwaarde bepaald door schaarste en de conditie van de plaat en de hoes. We prijzen op basis van vraag en aanbod en nemen mee of een versie gelimiteerd of genummerd is.
Welke variant kies ik?
Als het om de muziek gaat, kies je voor een repress. Een origineel of genummerde variant heeft een andere soort aantrekkingskracht.

There are at least six editions of this German 12" single, all with the same sleeve, cat#, and list of tracks printed on them. Most are misprinted labels. They can be distinguished by what track their A-side actually plays and what matrix codes are etched in the run-out area near the labels:
1. [r208455 original 1983 edition, correctly labeled; its A-side actually plays the 8:20 Sex Mix edit, which is an echo-ey "dub" version bearing almost no resemblance to the hit single/LP version and is an edit of the original 16 minute "Sex Mix". "83" appears in the A-side etchings. Also with "84" in the matrix etchings for the 2nd edition.
2. [r15545055 1984 reissue, correctly labeled; its A-side actually plays the 8:20 Sex Mix edit, which is an echo-ey "dub" version bearing almost no resemblance to the hit single/LP version and is an edit of the original 16 minute "Sex Mix". "83" appears in the A-side etchings. B-side etching say "84"
3. [r1157964 1984 reissue, with incorrectly misprinted labels stating the 8.20 Sex Mix; its A-side actually plays the 7:25 U.S. Mix, which is an extended version that sounds like the hit single with a long instrumental intro. "84" appears in the A-side etchings.
4. [r1231831 1985 repress of the 1984 reissue, again with incorrectly misprinted labels stating the 8.20 Sex Mix; its A-side actually plays the 7:25 U.S. Mix. "85" appears in the A-side etchings.
5. [r1100192 The 1989 repress of the 1984 reissue, again with incorrectly misprinted labels stating the 8.20 Sex Mix; its A-side actually plays the 7:25 U.S. Mix. "89" appears in the A-side etchings, but without "II" at the end.
6. [r1157784 1990s A repress of the 1984 reissue, again with incorrectly misprinted labels stating the 8.20 Sex Mix; its A-side actually plays the 7:25 U.S. Mix. Unlike previous editions, it has dark blue labels containing light blue text and the PolyGram-era Island logo. "89" appears in the A-side etchings, with "II" appended.
The 7:25 U.S. Mix has been mistakenly called New York mix due to compilation CD's incorrectly calling it the New York Mix, in fact the 8.20 was un-officially known as the New York mix but its correct title is the "Sex Mix Edit", source from Inside The Pleasuredome. The U.S. Mix source comes from the "And Suddenly There Came A Bang", the official ZTT booklet.
