General notes about this release (please note: our version may differ a little. see the comments above):
"Music does not exist in itself; its character and development are closely connected to presuppositions, often a non-musical nature, which are held by individuals or groups of individuals.
The music on this record grew from the attempt to bring together various approaches to music, which we usually keep separate or - at most - partially combine:
- music as 'dance', directly resulting from rhythmic physical movement;
- music as an object for contemplation;
- music as a performing art;
- music as the art of combining musical elements.
With this in mind, I thoroughly explored the bass recorder. New sounds arose and I developed new breathing and articulation techniques. It's up to the listener to decide whether all this produced music in its own right."
Recorded on July 12 and 13, 1983 at Bach Hall of Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam.
