Reissue of a 1993 Sony Classical release. First time on vinyl. 180-gram audiophile vinyl in a deluxe heavyweight sleeve with gloss laminate in a PVC jacket. Includes an insert with liner notes. 'Itaipu': Commissioned by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. The composition pays homage to the world's largest hydroelectric dam, built on the Paraná River between Paraguay and Brazil. First performed in 1989. 'Canyon': Commissioned by the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. First performed in 1988. World premiere recordings. The tracks are numbered sequentially from 1 to 5 across the sides. Total time: 55:51.
